Our Top Winter Car Care Tips

This has already been a tough winter, and it shows few signs of letting up. That's why it's more important than ever to maintain your vehicle and make sure that it's holding up to the elements. We asked the experts in our Service Center for their best advice on how to keep your car running through the season and have it emerge into spring ready for adventures.

  • First, and most importantly, make sure that your SUV or car is serviced on a regular, consistent schedule. Pay special attention to your engine oil and other essential fluids like wiper fluid and antifreeze, making sure that they're clean and topped off regularly. Old fluids have a much harder time moving when the temperature drops, and the last thing you want is for sludge-filled oil to fail to lubricate your engine properly.
  • When it's just snowed in Jamaica NY, take some time and walk around your vehicle to brush off any snow, ice, or dirt that may have gathered on tour windshield, windows, roof, or lights. While you may not think this is essential, there's no reason to risk your visibility.
  • While you're clearing off your windshield, go ahead and take a close look at your wipers. You use them more in the winter than any other time of the year, and you don't want stiff or cracked wipers reducing your ability to see down the road.
  • Scrutinize your battery, wiring, and vehicle lights at regular intervals throughout the season. Extreme temperatures can destroy a weakened battery, and you want to make sure that your electrical system is operating fully in the low winter light.

If you'd like to make sure that your vehicle is ready to survive the rest of this winter, why not bring it in to the technicians in our Service Center? We're always happy to help our friends and neighbors from the Floral Park, Bellerose, and Valley Stream areas.
