What's New for 2018?

Aside from the interior and exterior redesign, engineers also tinkered with the underpinnings. This improved the drive quality significantly and the sedan is more responsive than ever before. The Sonata also has standard blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change assist on all trims. You've got extra protection no matter how much you're paying! These tools are especially useful when you're driving around the busy areas of Jamaica NY, Floral Park, Bellerose, and Valley Stream.

Engine, Space, & Technology

The Hyundai Sonata comes in seven trims: SE, Eco, SEL, Sport, Limited, Sport 2.0T, and Limited 2.0T.

The SE, SEL, Sport and Limited are powered by a 2.4L engine with 185 horsepower. The Eco has a slightly more efficient 1.6L engine with 178 horsepower. The two trims with a 2.0T designation have a powerful 2.0L engine with 245 horsepower, and it's a great choice for drivers who want to feel a bit of a rush behind the wheel. The Sonata has noticeably smoother brakes and all come with Eco/Comfort/Sport driving modes so you can adjust your commute or long haul.

Because this is the midsize sedan category, we know you're expecting a little more room. The trunk has 16.3 cubic feet of cargo space and automotive journalists have pointed out the spacious backseats that taller adults find surprisingly comfortable. The Sonata also has the highest ranks for interior volume (122.4 cubic feet) in its class!

Along with the safety tech features we previously mentioned, all Sonata's comes standard with the following highlights: 7-inch touchscreen, YES Essentials® seats (for the cloth trims), Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, and a rearview camera.

At our dealership the SE & SEL trims are the most popular. The SE is perfect if you want a bit of technology and creature comforts, but don't need every feature under the sun. If you enjoy bells and whistles then check out the SEL. It kicks it up a notch with smart entry + push button start, a comfortable leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, cozy heated cloth seats that can be power-adjusted 10 ways, a hands-free smart opening trunk (very nice), BlueLink, and the option to add on additional advanced safety technologies. The SEL really balances features and an attractive price point.
